Our 7 inch dust shroud is designed specifically for the DeWALT grinder model # D28494S that comes with your EZ Grinder.
It is constructed out of heavy duty steel to withstand years of abuse. The dust shroud is attached to the grinder via a clamp so the shroud is locked firmly in place with no need to retighten set screws that can loosen due to vibrations and heavy use.
We have designed our dust shroud so that you can grind as close to the wall as necessary while capturing virtually all dust with adequate suction. We accomplish this with these 3 features:
- Our dust shroud is set slightly off center so the diamond cup wheel juts out as close to the edge of the shroud as possible to grind as close to walls and in corners as possible.
- Our Urethane Seal is purposely cut slightly short so that there is a gap at the front of the shroud.
- A metal protector plate is placed between the urethane seal and the stainless steel heavy duty clamp during normal operation. The function of the clamp is to maintain sastisfactory suction for dust capture while grinding to within a 1/4"-1/8" of vertical obstructions. If the metal protector plate is removed, the grinder can grind to within an 1/8" or closer depending on the diamond cupwheel being used. Please note: depending on the amount of suction your vacuum provides, operation of the dust shroud without the protector plate may create dust.
To adjust the shroud, the urethane seal needs to be raised up off the concrete just enough so that it doesn't drag while grinding. This not only allows for dustless grinding it also guarantees you will never have suction lock.
The urethane seal will eventually show wear due to uneven concrete pushing it into the diamond cupwheel. When this happens the seal can be turned upside down or trimmed with a utility knife. Replacement Seals can be purchased from us here.

1. What grinder should I choose?
Grinder selection should be based on the application for which you wish to use the EZ Grinder. For coating removals and heavy grinding we recommend using the 6,000 RPM grinder (Model # D28494) equipped with a 7" diamond cup wheel. However, the 6,000 RPM grinder is not suitable for polishing concrete. For concrete polishing the variable speed grinder (Model # DW849) must be used. The variable speed grinder can be fitted with velcro backed polishing pads to polish up to a desired grit.
2. Can I purchase a grinder seperately and switch them out as needed?
The EZ Grinder was designed to allow the operator to easily switch between the two different types of grinders so that whatever your prep needs are, the EZ Grinder can accomodate. Click here for a guide on how to accomplish this.
3. Can I use my own grinders with the EZ Grinder?
The EZ Grinder has been designed to be used with DeWalt™ grinder model #'s D28494 and DW849. We do not currently offer brackets that will accomodate other manufacturer's grinders.
4. What if I currently have one of the grinders you listed above?
The 6,000 RPM grinder (D28494) can be mounted on the EZ Grinder with no modifications. The variable speed grinder must be modified slightly in order to fit on the EZ Grinder's bracket. If you purchase the grinder seperately from us it will be ready to be used with the EZ Grinder.

EZ Grinder Limited Warranty
WHAT DOES THE WARRANTY COVER? We will repair, without charge, any defects due to faulty materials or workmanship.
HOW LONG DOES THE COVERAGE LAST? The warranty is good for 1 year from the date of purchase.
WHAT WILL WE DO TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM? If a part is defective we will mail a replacement part to you free of charge. If this does not correct the problem please ship the grinder to us and we will repair or replace it. For shipping costs to be covered, you must contact us for approval prior to sending us parts for repair.
HOW DO I GET SERVICE? Please contact us via any of the methods found on the contact us link.
WHAT IS NOT COVERED? We will not cover part failure due to normal wear or tool abuse. This warranty does not cover the DEWALT grinder. The DEWALT grinder has a 1 year full warranty/3 year limited warranty. If you require service to your grinder, please contact your local DeWALT® service center or call 1-800-4-DeWALT.
